(Lieber) - Building accessibility: hotels and motels.
AB2536 Would require that the Department of Housing & Community Development draw up standards for installing grab bars in showers and tubs in at least six rooms of new hotels and hotels remodeled after the effective date of the new building standards. It would also require that on and after January 1, 2006, every hotel operator shall either (1) ensure that the tub or shower in each guestroom has a floor surface that minimizes the risk of slipping, or (2) provide a slip_resistant tub or shower mat for each tub and shower fixture in each guestroom that minimizes the risk of slipping in the tub or shower.
