BUDGET

As indicated in the Legislative Report of July 20, 2000, Governor Davis has made a statewide augmentation for ADA improvements in the new budget which allows up to $60 million for projects addressing the accessibility of state buildings by persons with disabilities. Before the funds are allocated, the project must be reviewed and approved by the Americans with Disabilities Act Interagency Task Force, whose members shall be appointed by the Governor and that shall be chaired by the Department of Rehabilitation.

This is a strong step towards achieving CDR's goal of state government-wide coordination and compliance with the ADA. We are very hopeful that good things will come out of the task force, and we will be watching it carefully, and reporting back to the State Council and the CDR membership.
